Trauma Informed Approach
It is important to acknowledge the relationship between trauma and dementia and the ways trauma might impact someone living with dementia. The National Trauma Transformation Programme provides a range of resources and we would like to highlight two in particular:
- The first one is Opening Doors: Trauma Informed Practice for the Workforce on Vimeo. This is designed as an introduction to the topic of trauma and gives examples of trauma and adverse experiences and how these can affect a person’s daily life.
- The second animation is A piece of the puzzle: Trauma Informed Practice in dementia care on Vimeo which looks more specifically at the impact of trauma on a person living with dementia.
